Athens

The Acropolis and the Agora are two must-see places in Athens. And another place you've gotta visit, which, oddly enough, begins with the letter "A", is the Areopagos.

Just down the hill from the Acropolis, this slippery rock formation is a great place to hang out. As my fellow tourists are proving...

But it's not just a photo op. Because this is actually the place where Saint Paul preached to the Athenians. And he even converted a senator by the name of Dionysius. (He was later to be known as St. Dionysius the Areopagite.)

Ok, maybe he's not a household name. But he was the first person to become a Christian in Athens! That's pretty right on. And it was thanks to Paul's preaching on this very rock. So I thought I'd re-enact the moment.

You might be thinking to yourself that's a dumb picture. And you'd be right. But what's really dumb? I had to set this shot up myself, run into frame, and then fake "yell" something before the flash went off. Clearly I converted no one in my work here.

And the city of Athens is just jam-packed with more old stuff:

Even this turtle looked old to me

Hey, I'm not a professional tour guide, you know?

I didn't take the time to learn about everything I snapped pictures of. And in that respect, going on a trip is a lot like living the faith:
Everything makes a lot more sense when you take the time to learn!
