I decided to shave my head
to raise money for
St.
Baldrick's to help conquer children's cancer. So across North
America, a first in Catholic radio history: A live head shaving!
Fred Hamway was nice enough to come in and shave my head for free -
because his son Adam works on our Catholic Channel.
You can see by my face how excited I was to have the first hairs cut...
And because we are on The Catholic Channel, it only made sense to shave
a cross into my head, right?
From there, he just made a mockery of my head - leaving whatever
patches of hair he'd like.
This isn't a look that will become popular anytime soon...
Here I am yelling about how great (?) the new haircut looks.
My friend Brad, who works for Howard Stern's channels, is in the studio
next door and wrote a kind note during the whole process...
And since we were still doing live radio, I got to throw the headphones
back on and keep working. Bald.
After the show was done, and I got home, I took a nice long look in the
mirror.
Wow. I'm tough to look at. (Well,
tougher
to look at.)
What did I do?
Well, I raised money for children's cancer research. And thanks to so
many generous people, we reached our financial goals. But it's not too
late to give money!
St.
Baldricks is the website, and anything you can do to help is
greatly appreciated.
It's even tax deductible, if that makes it more appealing. (Though
raising money for children with cancer, and seeing me bald, should be
reason enough...)
